My computer has been functioning okay for a while, although it always took a long time for it to reboot and settle down. I just thought that was happening because I had a lot of stuff on the computer, but one day, the blue screen came on when I tried to turn the computer on. I've tried the Safe Mode, Last Known Good Configuration, etc., but none of it works. Is there a way to diagnose the problem before calling a professional technician?

Did you mean you could start in the Safe Mode? If you could, you could try to repair the OS (assuming you have the OS cd). More than likely, you need to save what you can using the safe mode, and reinstall the OS. Good Luck.
